Dear Friends and All New Music Lovers, 

Collage New Music is back! We are excited at the prospect of doing what we love, giving lively concerts of lively music. Our 2021-2022 season begins on January 17, followed by programs on February 27 and April 10. Of course, we will be practicing all responsible safety measures at these events, including maintaining wise social distancing in Pickman Hall at the Longy School. And, for the moment, we must forgo our pre-concert talks and post-concert receptions, a small price for being able to bring you what promises to be an exciting, in-person season.

The season restores two outstanding works that we lost with the cancellation of our March 2019 concert—music by Marjorie Merryman and Collage Fellow Brian Sears—as well as twelve other superb works. Among these will be premieres of four Collage commissions, music by Eric Nathan, Yehudi Wyner, Richard Festinger, and Peter Child. Also new to Collage will be works by Yu-Hui Chang, John Heiss, Sean Shepherd, Talia Amar, Katherine Salfelder, and (coincidentally) three David’s: David Rakowski, David Froom, and our own David Hoose. Together, along with Pilgrimage, one of Andrew Imbrie’s finest compositions, these add up to a great way to mark our return, as well as an exciting way to celebrate Collage’s 49th season.

This season is our 49th, this means next season will be the 50th anniversary of Collage New Music! For that, we are already planning a multitude of premieres.

 We look forward to sharing this two-year journey with you, and we will eagerly look for you in our audience. We also hope you will support our efforts with whatever generosity you can offer. Thank you very much.
